IDEAL FOOD AND DRINKS FOR JAUNDICE

Diet plays a significant role in jaundice recovery and prevention.The liver produces bile that helps the intestine to break down fats during digestion. The liver is also responsible for metabolizing most digested nutrients, toxins, and medications. People with jaundice are usually advised to follow a liquid diet for the first four to five days of treatment to increases the liquid level.

Water-Consuming a lot of water is one of the best ways to help the liver recover from jaundice. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day which will help the liver to flush out the toxins.

Digestive enzymes Take digestive enzymes that helps to reduce bilirubin. Digestive enzymes present in Honey, Orange peels, Pineapple, Papaya and Mango.

 

 

Fruits and vegetables – Fresh fruits and vegetables contain powerful antioxidants and fiber that can help limit liver damage during metabolism. Fruits also containing digestive enzymes that helps in digestion. Fresh fruits and vegetables for maintaining a healthy liver include-Grapefruit, Avocado, Brussels sprouts, Grapes and Mustard greens. For optimal health benefits, we should eat whole fruits and vegetables and avoid high-calorie, low-fiber products, such as fruit juices and blends.

Lean proteins- Lean proteins, including tofu, legumes, and fish. It puts less stress on the liver than red meat. Oily species of fish, such as salmon and mackerel that contain omega-3 and zinc, which help to metabolize fatty acids, alcohols, carbohydrates, and proteins

Nuts and legumes- Mostly nuts and legumes are rich in antioxidants, including vitamin E and Phenolic acid.Whole nuts and legumes are also usually rich in fiber and healthy fats. If Walnuts and other tree nuts are we consumed regularly it will be beneficial to the liver.

Coffee and herbal tea- Coffee and herbal teas contain high Antioxidants, like Caffeine which helps stimulate digestion.

Whole grains- Whole grain foods contain high amounts of those nutrients, which are friendly for liver. It includes healthy Fats, Fiber, Antioxidants, and Minerals.
