Making dietary changes, such as identifying trigger foods and following a low-FODMAP diet, can provide significant relief from abdominal discomfort and irregular bowel habits. In addition, exercise, adequate hydration, and psychosocial strategies—including meditation and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)—have been shown to support gut function and emotional balance. Medications, such as antispasmodics, laxatives, or low-dose antidepressants, may also be used depending on individual symptoms. Through a combination of lifestyle adjustments, dietary modifications, psychological support, and medical therapy, individuals with IBS can experience meaningful improvements in both their digestive and overall well-being.
